Have A Tooth Ache?

If you have a toothache, see your dentist ASAP. In the meantime, rinse your mouth with warm water and use dental floss to try to remove any food particles wedged between your teeth. Take an over-the-counter pain reliever to dull the ache. You can also try applying oil of cloves (eugenol) or an antiseptic containing benzocaine directly to the irritated tooth and gum for temporary pain relief.

Don’t place aspirin or another painkiller directly against your gums as it could burn your gum tissue.
